Y'all. Saw Avengers: Infinity War this weekend. I am definitely a fan! It's amazing to think about how this story has been brewing over the last ten years! To see it all come together was a real treat.
As ever, I feel Marvel understands how to work with the overall tone of a movie. They've really become quite expert at delivering stories that are heartfelt, action-packed, emotional, and funny, that don't take themselves so seriously that the characters and audience can't have a good time together, but that DO take themselves seriously enough to pay attention to every detail. Infinity War accomplishes all of this, and still manages to leave us with a surprise or two.
Now, this is intended to be a spoiler-free review, so I won't go into too much detail, but I will say that some of the criticism I am hearing is fair in a particular aspect, but I'm going to say this: folks should enjoy the on-screen journey as it is presented, and not try to "outsmart" the movie by bringing in all this outside and behind the scenes information. The studio isn't giving out any prizes for being the kid who was too cool to enjoy the magic trick because you were too busy trying to explain how it works
, and you're only making the movie-going experience worse for yourself.
So, with all that said, I definitely recommend Avengers: Infinity War, and am not so patiently awaiting the conclusion of this decade-long saga in Avengers 4!
